Career Path : LANDSCAPER 2
The Landscaper 2 must know and gain proficiency in performing regular/advanced
tasks of landscape installation/construction and maintenance. This position should be able to perform with minimal technical supervision.
The Landscaper 2 must have attained all the skills and requirements of the Landscaper 1 position and all of the following requirements and job skills for the Landscaper 2 position. The Landscaper 2 will be reviewed on a quarterly basis. The Landscaper 2 must perform work at the company’s standard procedures, and time standards consistently AND learn 11 % or more of the Foreman position per quarter to qualify for a raise. Landscaper 2 will be expected to be working towards the Foreman  position and must attain all job skills of the Foreman position before attaining that level of job position and pay.

REQUIREMENTS
Meet all requirements of Landscaper 2 job description.
Maintain physical fitness level necessary to complete assigned job tasks.
Comply with all company policies/procedures and safety requirements.
Conscientious of safety of the customer, job site, and company employees on site
Interact with customer as needed.
Able to communicate in basic Spanish.
Familiar with company’s Maintenance Program and Guidelines.
Familiar with company’s Landscape Procedures and Guidelines.
Completed training for the application of chemicals.
Understand basic irrigation principles and demonstrate ability to effect all routine irrigation repairs.
Demonstrate ability to recognize irrigation deficiencies.
Report all unsafe conditions and practices to foreman or daily leader.
Proper care of tools/equipment on job site to avoid loss, damage or misuse.
Manage “Novice” and “Landscaper 1″ employees under supervision of foreman.
Require minimal technical supervision.
Continuing education requirement of a minimum of 12/hr/year. Of which a mandatory advanced first aid class with certification.

JOB SKILLS
Possess and demonstrate basic plan reading and layout skills.
Advanced drainage installation (down spout drain/French drain, catch basin, collection areas) under supervision of foreman.
Safe tractor operation/inspection/maintenance.
Irrigation trenching including use of walk behind trenchers.
Irrigation system programming.
Understand irrigation water management and water meters.
Able to identify all components of irrigation systems.
Complete irrigation system construction/installation under supervision by foreman.
Proficient and complete dry stack stone wall construction
Assist foreman with site grading and transit operation.
Finish grading.
Proficient in dry set brick work.
Basic soldering of copper pipe.
Proper use of basic woodworking tools.
Header board installation.
Become proficient in the use of; multi-tester, wire tracer, and ground fault locator.
Able to identify 25 commonly used plants on CLT list by common name and botanical name.
Prune fruit trees, citrus plants, and perennial flowering shrubs (evergreen and deciduous).
Able to understand and use a root feeder fertilizer applicator.
Calibrate fertilizer and pesticide application equipment.
Use pesticide application equipment demonstrating the proper application techniques.
Identify the proper procedure for transporting and storing pesticides.
Demonstrate proper cleaning procedure for application equipment
Demonstrate knowledge of the proper procedure for emergency spill cleanup.
Demonstrate knowledge of the basic elements of fertilizers.
Use of safety equipment in the proper manner.
Participation in training program for basic pest control procedures.
Able to identify by common name 5 broadleaf weeds in turf grass.
Establish relationship with customers.
Be proficient in filling out accurate time sheets, material used sheets and service slips.
Train to become CLCA Certified Landscape Technician

Able to meet or exceed company production rates & standards set forth.
Demonstrate proficiency of job skills as listed above.
Identify by common name 25 frequently used plants and demonstrate knowledge of the cultural requirements of those plants.
Able to prune fruit trees, citrus, and perennial flowering shrubs correctly.
Know fertilizer application techniques and be able to properly calibrate fertilizer and pesticide application equipment.
Know about proper pest control techniques.
Identify by common names 5 common broadleaf weeds in turf grass.
Able to effect normal repairs in the lateral line and sprinkler components of
Spray & Drip irrigation systems after correct identification of problem/s.
Able to do routine maintenance on drip and spray irrigation systems.
Demonstrates ability to program irrigation controllers.
Communicate problems to maintenance foreman.
Demonstrate effective water management on assigned projects.
Demonstrate ability to communicate in basic Spanish.
Demonstrate the ability to lead and supervise two to five employees and be able to set priorities.
Demonstrate ability to train and delegate.
Pass CLCA Certified Landscape Technician exam – If attained before Foreman level reached, add company assigned value to wage base.

Landscaper 2 is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the above skill areas prior to advancing to the position of Landscape Maintenance Foreman.

REPORTING
This position reports directly to lead person/daily supervisor/ foreman.
WAGE BASE
Wage Rate x 1.5
